SYLLABUS

Part 1. Data Network and TCP/IP Fundamentals Review

OSI model fundamentals; TCP/IP; UDP; ICMP; ARP; DNS; Data communication: Circuit, packet switching and data encoding; bandwidth; error detection and correction; routers/switches; network interconnectivity.
The following internetworking fundamentals should be added in this section (16)

· Network addressing - network ID, broadcasting address
· IP addressing - Class A, B, C,
· Subnetting
· Data-link layer addressing - MAC
· Data encapsulation

Part 2. Introduction of Network Security

Security threats assessment: physical, hijack, malware, Denial Of Services (DOS) and Distributed DOS, war drive.
Enterprise Security Design and Practical Guidelines: Enterprise security design, implementation and management; application (DNS, e-mail) security considerations; virus and malware protection; patch management and deployment; DOS/DDOS protection; wireless access security.

Security Policy: Security policy overview and benefits; goals; development process; definition and evaluation of assets; aspects and items covered in security policy; legal and regulatory considerations; security life-cycle process.
Authentication Services and Network Access Control: Authentication and identity services overview; accounting and authorization services; Radius/TACACS+; Kerberos; biometrics; one-time passwords; multi-factor authentication (tokens).
Public Key Infrastructure: Digital signatures; Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) principles; Certificate Authority (CA); CA deployment guidelines.
