Scope: Analysis Services offers developers and users a vast number of possibilities for creating OLAP cubes and applications. This 30-hour course is designed to introduce OLAP by using Analysis Services. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, implement, and deploy OLAP solutions that resolve common business problems. Students leave the course with a broad understanding of the product and various applications of it within business scenarios. Objectives: At the end of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Define the term OLAP and its role within data warehousing. 2. Build a basic cube by using the Cube and Dimension Wizards. 3. Understand the architecture of Analysis Services. 4. Build dimensions by using the Dimension Editor. 5. Utilize various dimension properties and settings. 6. Use the Cube Editor to create and manipulate cubes, add measures and dimensions, and assign properties to improve cubes. 7. Design cube storage and aggregations and implement usage-based optimization. |
